There are various manual ways to repair corrupted RAR files. However, they are not fully safe and trusted ones. But a lot of users select them so we are discussing a few ones here.
Method 1. Repair damaged/corrupted RAR files using WinRAR
To repair RAR files, you will get a repair function in the WinRAR application. Firstly, install the WinRAR application on your computer.
- Run WinRAR and go to the location where you have the damaged RAR file. Now, open it with WinRAR.
- Pick the damaged RAR file. Hit the ‘Repair’ button in the ‘Tool’ bar. Then pick ‘Repair archiver’ from the drop-down list.
- In the appeared dialog box, choose the location to save the repaired file. Confirm the selection and press OK to start the process.
- Once it is complete, move to the folder selected to save the repaired file. Your repaired file will appear as _rebuilt.rar
Note:This method will work if the file is not severely damaged/corrupted as it can deal only with minor corruptions.
Method 2. Force Extraction of RAR files by Ignoring errors
If using the above method to repair corrupt RAR files, you still get a corruption error message then try to extract RAR files. WinRAR provides you an option to extract the RAR archive by keeping corrupt files & ignoring the error messages.
Here is the whole process:
- Right-click on the corrupt/damaged RAR file and open it with WinRAR.
- In the WinRAR Window, click on the Extract To button.
- In the Extraction path and options window, mention a path to save the extracted files.
- Do remember to click Keep Broken Files under Miscellaneous in the Extraction path and options window.
- Finally, press the OK button and this will start the file extraction from the RAR archive. If you find any error message, ignore it and continue extracting files.
Method 3. Repair damaged RAR files using Online Tools
Several online free tools can repair damaged RAR files like UltraRepair. This will fix broken and corrupt RAR files.
Here is the entire process:
- Install and Open the UltraRepair Tool on your system.
- Choose ‘Repair’ and then ‘File Repair’
- Select the corrupted RAR files and hit the ‘Repair’ button. This will commence repairing your files.
- After some time, you will see your corrupted RAR files are successfully repaired. They are ready to open normally.
Note:There is no surety of data safety when you pick an online tool. So, be attentive while you pick any free online tool.
